The seat belt is in a different location than I'm used to reaching for. My helmet, gloves etc are not where I'm accustomed to them sitting.

I hope to see you there. I URGE you to attend if at all possible. Regardless of Rank or tenure ( if you're a "Rookie" firefighter...you definitely should attend). I believe we owe it to each other to do so. It's paying "RESPECT" to a Brother or Sister.

You know what they say about firefighters.... we will figure it out someway or another AND ... if we can't fix it, we will fix it (break) so nobody else can ! LOL

We all need a room full of firefighter wives, girlfriends etc like " Suki " to fill council chambers etc every time they talk about, debate and consider budget cuts to Public Safety. And don't think for a minute that your Department budget or your pension is safe. Right now, my pension is under attack. It's been coming for some time now but it's just here recently that the majority of our members have "seen the light"

I'm not sure what I've done to deserve the life I've been given this past year but I am truly THANKFUL. Together, Rhett and I have made the journey of a lifetime in just a few short years. I can only imagine what 2012 will bring us.

If we put the fire out, there will be nothing to "flash". If the fire is extinguished, it can not weaken or burn through lightweight trusses / construction. When a fire is no longer burning, it can no longer produce the toxic gas and fumes that kill trapped occupants.

I'm PROUD of my men and the job they do. A night out on the town is the least I can do to say thanks for all their hard work and efforts ... For the record, my members are Lt George Perdue, Senior Firefighter Todd "Boots" Harris and Rookie Randy Armbrister .... THANKS again guys!

When our recruits complete the acadamy, they are assigned to a company, placed on 1 years probation and have a detailed set of objectives to complete / pass within that year. They are assigned a "Rookie Book" which contains thoses objectives and are evaluated at the 3, 6, 9 and 12 month mark.

I didn’t get a post up saturday night because I took  half the day off. My beautiful bride and I attended her 25th high school reunion. We had a very nice dinner and dance  at Mariner’s Landing  on nearby Smith Mountain Lake. For those of you wondering …. YEA … I still “got it”. That 80’s music had me throwing ...
