For us, it's not so much about supporting Career vs. Volunteer; it's about supporting the Fire Service. It's about being PROFESSIONAL, doing the job and even more than that .... it's about DOING THE RIGHT THING. It's about supporting our Brothers and Sisters who are out there in the street day after day.... on the FRONT LINES of America sacrificing themselves and all that they have in the service of others. It's WHO WE ARE and a pay check will and can NOT define us.

Did you notice? Did ya see it? What did / will you do about it? There are members all across this country who are struggling with one emotional battle or another. We struggle with these battles yet we continue to step into our boots, pull up our pants and put on our coats. We face personal, life and death  battles ...

If we can not help ourselves.... our own members... the Brothers and Sisters riding beside us ... how can we be expected to help those we are sworn to serve and protect? Think about that for a minute.

Chief Chatman had told me not to get "too excited" about the visit because they were "just a small rural Department". Well, I can tell you that size, run stats or status (paid or volunteer) doesn't matter when it comes to Pride for the Job.

At one point, I wasn't so sure I'd even make it. Now, I have hope.

He thinks we're the heroes and is too young to understand that the challenges he faces and overcomes on a daily basis is an inspiration to us. Hunter is my hero!

Well, like I said; the past few weeks have had me back to square one and been difficult to cope with at home and on the job. This past cycle however has put me back on the path I need to be on.
