"Kevin O'Toole and Ethan Sorrell were trapped in a house fire on February 24th, 2012 in Prince Georges County Maryland. They were both riding Truck Company 9 of the Bladensburg Volunteer Fire Department responding to a reported house fire in the first due response area of a closed firehouse. After making entry, conditions rapidly deteriorated causing Kevin and Ethan to be trapped and severely injured.

Again, I'll use the word "HEART". You can't teach what pushed Lt. Kelley (and fellow members) up those steps as "oceans and waves of flames" rolled over his (their) head

Again I'll mention the caliber of people Rhett and I surround ourselves with ... it's beyond humbling to be associated with folks like this. Their compassion, thoughtfulness and dedication to the Brotherhood and Fire Service as a whole is unparalleled.

I've always said that all I need is a month or two in the same station and/or one working fire to know whether or not a probie (or non-probationary firefighter for that matter) "gets it". That quickly, I can determine if he or she has "heart".

What I mean by that is FDIC is so huge and all encompassing that there's no way you can attend and not come away with something. A full week of training and Brotherhood shared by the absolute BEST in our business!
