We cannot thank the companies who gave products for the giveaway enough. This year we have around $10,000 worth of products to give away! That is awesome. We would appreciate it if you patronized these companies and gave them a “like” on Facebook! Without them we wouldn't have anything to give away.

What I did yesterday was a lot like "searching". Searching on or above the fire floor. Crawling on your belly in pitch black ... complete darkness... "Zero Visibility" (another link worth your click). Not knowing what lies ahead, where you're going or what you may encounter along the way. Reaching out trying to find something ... someone but also hoping you wont. What will we find? Life, death or something in between?

For those of you not on the job I'll offer this brief explanation. "Making the push" is what Firefighters do once they get to (or near) the fire floor / room. It's what happens after we get to the point of no return... to the point of attack (or a difficult search).

And here's the thing ... you can only "step up" so much .... especially when there's no (or little) forward movement or improvement. You can only beat your head against the wall for so long before you eventually develop a headache.

This year's services will honor 98 firefighters who died In The Line Of Duty during 2013 and 9 who died in previous years.
