Training

I'm supposed to lead by example. You are too .... each of us.... no matter the years of experience or rank. I hope by posting this I am. It's surely another teaching point and quite possibly the most important lesson from the weekend. Clean and carcinogen free .... IT'S THE NEW "SALTY".

If you haven't heard or didn't know about Training Days, don't panic.... you still have time to sign up and there is still plenty of room (if not, we'll make room...LOL).Here's a brief overview of what will be offered...

The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) has announced the launch of its new Alternative Fuel Vehicles Training Program for U.S. Emergency Responders* (See below), which is now available online. This free, self-paced course teaches emergency responders how to safely deal with emergency situations involving alternative fuel passenger vehicles, trucks, buses, and commercial fleet vehicles.

Teams face a wide range of scenarios including Rope / High Angle, Confined Space, Extrication, Swift Water, Trench, Cave, Heavy Equipment Rescue, derailments and more!

If we are not learning every day, we are wasting our time. It's our duty to learn and evolve on or ahead of the same pace that the situations and challenges we face daily are. If we don't, we are destined to fail. It's an up hill battle and one that, at a minimum; requires dedication, determination, discipline and desire.

It was a good class that contained a lot of things that needed to be said. I'd bet every Department has a member or two that you wouldn't want in front of or behind you on the line.... am I right?

Again... NOT something that many of the Brothers and Sisters in attendance get to do on a regular basis. This was a unique opportunity for many of them and it was provided by Valley Of The FOOLS!

I think the member who asked the question already realizes this ... otherwise, he wouldn't be seeking the advice he is (he's planning / preparing for these "bigger" firefighters to go down). Why are these members inside anyway? Why are they even on the Department? Is their potential heart attack, stroke or death worth the benefit of having them as members? THINK ABOUT THAT.

It will be an evening of camaraderie, food, drink, music, giveaways, contests, thousands of dollars in fire service prizes, the chance to meet popular fire bloggers & personalities & more! We have obtained a large venue (location close to the convention center and will be announced soon) and will be sharing it with many of our closest friends, colleagues and fellow bloggers.
