Crews were able to locate one person dead inside the home. Further details of the fire, the name, age etc of the victim can not be released at this time. Notification of family members of the deceased are still pending and the investigation into the cause of the fire continues.

2 people are reported dead on the campus of Va. Tech following another shooting incident. There are at least 2 crime scenes being worked while a search for the gunman continues. Va Tech is currently on "lock down" and there are also report of one of the two dead being a police officer (unconfirmed at this time).

Battalion Chief 1-C was first in with heavy black smoke from the roof of a 10 story newly renovated hotel.

Snow and cold temperatures add to the realisticness  of Roanoke’s Regional Heavy and Tactical Rescue training. Roanoke City Battalion Chief Bobbie Slayton was laid to rest yesterday. Bobbie passed away on Saturday, January 8, 2011 after suffering a stroke on December 26, 2010. We’re fighting on all fronts here in “the Noke”. Our biggest battle right now has Retired Battalion Chief Bobby Slayton fighting to recover. I’m afraid his condition has not improved.
