I saw this video tonight and thought it was worth a share.
You may remember the Indiana fire, last week on August 6, 2014; that took the life of Assistant Chief Jamie Middlebrook.
The fire occurred at K-Fex, an excavation business; at 5885 N. 800 East outside Hudson Lake. Assistant Chief Middlebrook was killed and another firefighter ( Matt O’Donnell ) trapped following a partial roof collapse.
The video below is from Indiana TV station WSBT. In the video, Firefighter O’Donnell tells the story of the moments leading up to the fatal collapse.
The statement that stood out most to me was when O’Donnell said “We weren’t in a bad spot. I did not feel heat at all,” . From WSBT “With 18 years of firefighting experience, O’Donnell said he did not feel unsafe inside the building”.
